Finance Project Controller

The project controller is responsible for ensuring proper project information and correct accounting for revenue recognition across the Arcadis project portfolio.  Good business acumen, attention to detail as well as a thorough understanding of risk management and accounting principles relating to the recognition of revenue and costs are all essential.  This is a business-facing role where the job holder interacts regularly with commercial operations in a finance business partner capacity (challenge and build) and adds value to commercial decision-making.  The Project Controller is a highly visible role, and so the job holder must be comfortable working across all levels of the business, including senior management. 

Role accountabilities:

Create/set up / manage project structure in Oracle Checking and analyzing of project data extracted from Oracle and ensuring correct revenue recognition (POC%, cost, revenues, WIP, backlog, foreseeable losses) Conduct monthly Project Reviews with Project Managers to discuss project financials, billings projection, and updated forecasts with challenge and build discussions Preparation of scenario analysis to assist Project Managers in making decisions Preparation and analysis of data and reports (monthly rolling revenue forecast, monthly pre and post-close results for the respective business units, and any other ad-hoc reporting) Managing of opportunity and risk schedule across projects portfolio  Participating in annual cost rate changes in Oracle and analyzing the P&L impact Variance analysis of estimate vs. actual comparisons. Manage project finance-related electronic filing processes and systems Coordination of accounts receivable / billing with a good understanding of tax and legal requirements related to billing  Client profitability analysis Participate in risk management and risk mitigation activities, including internal and external audits Realizing efficiency and improvement in project finance and administration Monitoring of missing timesheets during month-end closing Monitoring of monthly compliance of project reviews submission in Oracle by Project Managers

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Skills 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. More than 5 years of experience in project accounting and/or revenue accounting. Strong knowledge of relevant IFRS and local GAAP. Experience with project management, including working within projects and applying project steering methods. Expertise in risk management and internal controls. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with business partners and provide constructive challenges.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
