Finance Director – Operation & Retail (Cornerstone Brands)

The Director of Finance will be responsible for supporting the Retail channel and Cornerstone’s Shared Services organization. This in a critical role in driving strategic planning and analyzing initiatives to optimize retail growth, profitability and operational efficiency. This position will lead the effort to develop, implement and review performance of the company’s retail channel. This includes formalizing KPIs and Metrics across the enterprise. The successful candidate will analyze in-market trends, customer shopping data, store performance and identify further expansion on opportunities. This position will also be a key finance partner, providing leadership and analysis support to Logistics, Facilities, IT, Customer Service & Experience and People & Organization functions. This role has primary responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting operational metrics and expenses related to the Shares Services organization. The overall goal is to ensure the ongoing maximization of earnings through efficiencies and controls while ensuring proper and timely reporting.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Develop and implement store financial strategies to support the company’s objectives and store expansion plans. Build partnerships with key business partners to create transparency and drive operational excellence. Develop processes to accurately track and account for centralized retail purchases. Analyze staffing needs based on short and long-term business goals. Track and analyze labor and headcount activities.  Perform monthly analysis on retail sales, gross margin, and operating expenses. Using insight from this reporting, identify financial improvement opportunities and collaborate with operations on execution of opportunities. Effectively optimize our processes and move from an existing as-is manual process to a more streamlined systemic process leveraging SAP.  Analyzes a variety of financial information (e.g., budget variances, cost projections, operational and capital outlay needs, etc.)  for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds, and ensuring overall operations are within budget.  Develop key metrics and related reporting to assure achievement of our company objectives. In partnership with business leaders, develop budgets and forecasts aligned with company strategic goals. Ownership of Shared Services capital analysis which includes development of capital requests and alignment with Leadership to achieve financial commitments. Deliver valuable business analysis and models, as well as define and report meaningful financial and operational metrics that lead accurate business decision-making. Operate in strong alignment with the other supporting functions (i.e. Logistics, Facilities, IT, Customer Service & Experience and People & Organization functions) to constantly improve the operational efficiency. Provide senior leadership with value added analysis to identify opportunities and risks to financial plans. Train, coach and develop high performing Team. Other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Strong understanding of retail operations and demonstrated ability to analyze and recommend improvement in the store operating cycle.  Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, store operations, real estate, legal, and various departments to implement, track, and analyze new initiatives.  BA/BS in Finance or Accounting or other business-related fields.  10+ years in roles of increasing responsibility in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in home and apparel, other soft goods within a multichannel retail environment Experience in a matrix, complex organizations a plus. 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 

Advanced computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
