A Hybrid working model

We have embraced a hybrid working model, which allows our employees to split their time between the office and other locations. The expectation is that working life at Hogarth will involve working from the office for an average of 4 days per week for most people . What does a Finance Controller do at Hogarth? 
The Finance Controller at Hogarth manages the finance processes working with the wider finance team. This individual is deadline driven, personable and leads by example. The Finance controller at Hogarth is familiar with Policies and Procedures to provide guidance where required. Production and advertising experience and knowledge is important to the success of the person in this role.

Direct Reports: Assistance Accountant & Finance Operations

 You will work closely with the Johannesburg and Cape Town teams.

 

The Opportunity:

We're looking for a sharp and dedicated Financial Controller to manage our finance processes and ensure accurate, timely group reporting. You'll be a key player in our finance team, ensuring we're on track and compliant.

What You'll Do:

Month-End Master: Own and streamline the month-end closing process. Revenue Recognition: Manage revenue recognition in line with IFRS and internal controls. Financial Reviewer: Review journals, provisions, accruals, fixed assets, and intergroup transactions. Reporting: Prepare monthly actuals, forecasts, and budget reports in Cartesis (SAP). Consolidation Expert: Consolidate divisional accounts. Balance Sheet Guardian: Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and audit files. System Superuser: Be our go-to person for Chase (operations) and Navision (finance) systems. Tax & Compliance Champion: Manage tax calculations and ensure SOX compliance. Audit Lead: Take ownership of external and internal audits. BBEEE: Assist with BBEEE audits and strategy. AFS Contributor: Help draft and prepare annual financial statements. Policy Shaper: Assist in drafting and maintaining company policies. Relationship Builder: Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the group. Team Leader: Supervise and mentor a small finance team. Problem Solver: Assist the Finance Manager with ad hoc projects.

What You'll Bring:

5 years Proven experience in financial control and reporting. Strong knowledge of IFRS and SOX compliance. Experience with Navision, Chase, Cartesis(SAP) and Power BI is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Experience managing a small finance team. Advertising/production industry experience advantageous A proactive, problem-solving attitude.
