Field Survey Technician
Full-Time in Houston, TX - Associate
Genex Systems is seeking an intermediate Field Technician to support Johnson Space Center, in Houston, TX.
Position Description
The Field Technician supports on site field data collection from cradle to grave, working on site with the Team Lead, Measurement Technicians, and GIS Analysts to collect data throughout Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX. The Field Technician will:
• Collect field data as directed by Site Lead
• Field verify Facility Housing Plans (FHP)
• Utilize Geospatial hardware and software (ESRI Suite) to collect and post process data according to project needs
• Utilize CAD software to update drawings
• Development and update GIS feature data from various information sources, including hand drawings, survey documents and data, and historical documentation
• Perform work manually or using a computer
• Provide recommendations for data collection methods
• Work independently and within a team to collect field data on larger projects
• Represent the team professionally on JSC as a Field Technician
• Must be able to lift 50lbs, throw/ raise a ladder/ climb up and down
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to:
• Use field survey hardware and software to collect data points, lines, polygons and associated attribute data
• Work independently to complete tasks in the field, sometimes with little supervision
• Take direction and follow written and verbal instruction
• Interpret and take data from hand drawings and other historical documentation to support field data development
• Work independently and within a team setting
• Use and troubleshoot various forms of survey equipment, levels, Optical total station, data collectors, etc.
• Perform Logical Quality Control to field data collected, ability to self-correct is desired
• Demonstrate working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations for construction projects, and follow these rules and regulations
• Utilize a variety of computer hardware and software applications and office equipment such as desktop and laptop computers, ESRI software such as ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD software, Trimble Survey software, large and small format printers, and MS Office Products
This position is locatedon siteat NASA JSC and requires the candidate to regularly work on site. Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced setting, multitasking ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, and pass a background investigation. Preferred AS in surveying, environmental science, civil technology, or similar, or 2 years’ experience in field data collection and processing.
