Field Support & Training (FS&T) Scheduler
• Maintains a safe workplace program and ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. • Complies with all ASC Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH), Waste Management and Quality Assurance requirements, goals, policies and procedures. • Leads all USAP continental Field Safety courses scheduling, coordinating, and tracking. • Maintains a proactive approach to problem solving and information gathering. Interacts with others in a professional and friendly manner, whether by telephone, email or in person. • Responsible for ensuring that all USAP participants, are signed up for and complete all necessary training and updates the Training Tracker and records student numbers throughout the season. • Maintain effective communication between departments and represent department as needed at operational meetings • Leads coordination of food orders and resupply for field teams. • Advises and updates Supervisors on progress of training metrics and any challenges surrounding critical client support. • Leads and coordinates Food Inventory and is principle POC managing food receiving. Responsible for giving accurate final numbers and reporting any issues to the Field Support Supervisor • Advises and makes recommendations to Field Support Supervisor of paradigm shifts, inventory issues or creative food management strategies and maintenance. • May perform equipment repair including operating industrial sewing machines, power tools, and other specialty tools and materials. • Manages all transportation for field courses and activities, integrating efficiently with other critical tasking across multiple departments. • Requisitions and tracks office supplies and supply inventory for Field Training and Field Area Management personnel. • Organizes and co-leads Field Support and Training morale trips for the community as necessary. • Assists in field workdays and in the Berg Field Center as required. • Provides functional guidance to other field support and training employees. • May provide administrative assistance and advisory support to Field Supervisors and Field Management as time allows. • Assists with timecards and expense reports for Field Support & Training staff • Gather and maintain training data for project reporting. • Performs other duties as required. Required Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED • Four years of experience in any combination of the following is required: outfitting groups working in polar environments or high-altitude winter settings, weather reporting, equipment operation, logistical coordination, outdoor education and/or office management. • Total experience must include minimum one year experience in a leadership role, two years of experience in resource planning, and minimum one year experience in data management, reporting, or project coordination. Expected Skills and Competencies: • Intermediate level computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). • Highly self-motivated, organized, efficient and able to deal with multiple last-minute changes. • Excellent customer service skills. • Detail-oriented. Preferred: • BS/BA degree • Wilderness First Responder Certification Physical and/or Other Requirements: • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods • Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica • Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer • Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF • Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position. • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position. • Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safety objectives. • Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
