Field Service Technician- Heavy Construction
Ziegler CAT has an opening for an experienced Field Service Mechanic, with a focus on heavy construction equipment. We are looking for a dedicated employee with excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to help us maximize customer uptime.

Responsibilities:

Diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment including compactors, loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, among other medium to heavy duty equipmentResponds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed in the field; a company truck, phone, and computer are providedUsing independent judgment, assumes responsibility for the safe maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment, which involve mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systemsMaintains a clean and safe work area, adheres to all safety procedures; maintains a service vehicle in a clean and professional mannerPositively interacts with manager and team members to satisfy customer needsProvides assistance to other technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairsUtilize modern communication methods both internal and external, to ensure job status is conveyed in a timely manner and the customer’s needs are being exceededDocuments labor, parts used, and description of work performed assuring that work orders can be closed and billed as communicated with the customerWilling to respond to after hour emergency calls as directed by supervisorIdentifies and communicates the need for parts for inventoryPerforms other duties as assigned/required

Qualifications:

2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable experience2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably in the fieldKnowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems Possesses the ability to diagnose equipment without supervision; is also able to understand and communicate schematicsDesire to provide exceptional customer service with a strong attention to detailMust be an excellent problem solver who possesses modern communication and computer skillsAbility to maintain a safe and clean work environmentWilling and able to respond to emergency after-hour calls, as directed by supervisorMust operate equipment safelyOwn mechanic tool setMust have and maintain a clean driving recordClass A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period of timeObtain a DOT medical certification cardPass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physicalThis role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirement

Push/pull up to 50 lbsLift/carry up to 60 lbsLift bulky objectsStanding, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
