Thermo Fisher Scientific offers coordinated solutions, instrument, and enterprise services to our customers. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive services on Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry systems, including installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualifications. Our ideal candidate will be customer oriented, an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific in customer laboratories, and eager to drive growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project manager for site works projects and/or perform engineering designs, evaluations, equipmentselections applying good engineering practice techniques. Perform/support a wide range of customer tasks within the customers spaces including, but not limited to, assessing equipment requirements, physically performing field investigations, customer interface, project scope development, vendor walk-downs, shutdown coordination, permit to work, studies, pre-project drawing verifications, post project drawing updates (redlines).Obtains quotes and UQS for vendor work. Process purchase orders in the Pfizer purchase order system for services using the Ariba system. Ensure purchase orders are invoiced appropriately through SAP and Process Director. Work with group finance SMEs for support as required.Create comprehensive/executable scope documents for assigned tasksPerform facility maintenance and repairs as requiredProvide project oversight and/or supervise contracted resourcesProject Lead for assigned projects and/or perform entry level engineering designs, evaluations, equipment selections applying good engineering practice techniquesParticipate in / lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigationsReview corrective work orders to ensure adequate resolution and/or initiate follow up actions as necessaryWork closely with science lines and/or maintenance teams to ensure work order resolutions are complete and/or all necessary follow up actions are completed within acceptable timelinesCollaborate with customer planners, schedulers, and project teams to coordinate shutdown strategies that minimizes impact to operationsMay provide support to related business operations such as creating/submitting purchase

How will you get here?
Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Chemistry, Sciences or related field preferred
Experience.
5+ years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer is preferred, particularly working with facilities related projects or 3+ years relevant industry experience.Hands-on experience with setting up laboratory instrumentation such as Biosafety cabinets, Mass Spectrometers, HPLCs, Incubators, CentrifugesAbility to read and understand schematics on BASFamiliarity with the FIPP process is a plusFamiliarity with hooking up gases, HVAC, Heating/Air conditioning preferredKnowledge, Skills, Abilities.
Effective communication skills and establishing good customer rapport are essentialAbility to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentationSelf motivated and able to work independently once training is completedAbility to safely lift 50 lbs with assistance on occasion.Ability to safely lift and carry 25-30 lbs continuously throughout the day.Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach daily in a service function.Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.Regular and Reliable AttendanceWe offer competitive salary, an annual incentive bonus plan, 401K with company match up to 6%, tuition reimbursement, and a range of other employee benefits!
