Compensation includes a base salary of $64,200.00 - $96,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Root Cause Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage battery packs at our internal and customer sites. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in the field. The Root Cause Engineer designs, installs, configures, implements, assesses, and supports all aspects of providing technical guidance and oversight and acting as a point of escalation and technical support for servicing batteries. This role considers a Root Cause Analysis work that is performed onsite at our Global Headquarters (GHQ) location, as well as a traveling role called the “Flying Doctor” that performs scheduled field repairs and De-Hazard work.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Commissioning: Assess and repair high voltage battery packs at customer locations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues with battery packs to ensure optimal performance and longevity.Customer Support: Provide technical support and training to customers, addressing any questions or concerns related to the battery packs.Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service activities, including installation reports, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines when working with high voltage systems, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in battery technology to continuously improve service quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years’ experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in field service or automotive related work, preferably with high voltage battery systems. Must have track record of safe operations.Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical issues in high voltage battery packs.  Familiarity and confidence using hand tools  (torque wrench, caulk gun, etc) and diagnostics tools (multimeter, hi-pot, specialty equipment, scan tools, etcetc).Certifications: Relevant certifications in high voltage safety and battery technology are a plus.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.PC Skills: Microsoft office suite. Excel, Word, OneDrive, PowerPoint.Travel: Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, sometimes on short notice.

Working Environment 

Variable, consisting of the office environment, the manufacturing floor, and in- field situations that require travel. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, and exposure to High Voltage systems. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes Arc Flash safety equipment, safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate footwear for the working environment.
