Principal Project Engineer
Your role and responsibilitiesWorking as a Field Service Engineer, you will act as the responsible engineer for electrical systems for mine grinding projects. You will be responsible for maintenance and technical support on small projects or portions of larger projects. You will complete assignments efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This position involves frequent travel to customer locations.•\tProviding on-site and remote technical support for installation and commissioning and conducting maintenance autonomously on ABB equipment installed at mine sites•\tIdentify and develop business and commercial opportunities, based on customer knowledge and collaboration across ABB.•\tAct as the key point of contact for customer technical service requests for assigned customer(s) to help them achieve their productivity and quality targets.•\tConsult with and advise customers on the best service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures, and safety guidelines.•\tTroubleshoot equipment and process problems, perform Root Cause analysis, provide recommendations, and implement solutions to eliminate root causes.•\tPrepare and present reports to customers for maintenance services with their maintenance programs with recommendations for product, quality, and customer service improvements.•\tDomestic and International travel will be required, as the role will require hands-on support at customer sites.•\tLiving ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Qualifications for the roleA Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similarSound knowledge of and hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and repairing of MV equipment.Knowledge of servicing industrial equipment.Strong Software understanding.Excellent mechanical skills.Valid driver's license and passport are required.Availability for travel to customer sites. (60 – 70 %).Experience with installation and maintenance of industrial automation systems, including PLCs and/or DCS (Distributed Control Systems), would be an asset.Excellent bilingual communication skills (French/ English). French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
