Summary:

Division: Unity Lab Services, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides critical on-site instrument services at customer locations. Our colleagues are passionate about improving customer experience and service operations efficiency. The primary territory is Austin, and Central Texas. The FSE will also support neighboring FSEs in San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas. A fleet vehicle is provided to the Field Service Engineer to allow for travel to multiple customers in the defined service area. Overnight travel will be expected weekly by the Field Service Engineer, with an average of 1 to 2 nights away from home.

You have the opportunity to manage various aspects of field service support and customer relationships within our Laboratory Essentials (LE). In addition, you will provide complete services on laboratory equipment, including repairs, preventative maintenance, installation, and compliance services, while being an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Our ideal candidate will be customer-focused, an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific in customer laboratories, drive focus and improve customer delivery and overall experience, and be eager to drive growth.

What you'll do:Repair, install, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment products including incubators, centrifuges, cold storage (refrigerators and freezers), and other equipment as neededSchedules and completes detailed preventative maintenance and corrective service to ensure peak uptime of customer equipmentProvide onsite service training to Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operatorsSubmit expenses and manage trunk stock inventory in a timely and accurate mannerDocument daily service actions through the company work order databaseMaintains courteous and knowledgeable communication with customers to ensure alignment of all aspects of the service events (status, cost, scheduling, etc.)

EducationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentAssociate degree in Electronics or Engineering field preferredEPA Certification preferredExperienceA minimum of 1 year of experience in field service, Depot repair, manufacturing facilities or equivalent, servicing medical devices or laboratory equipment, etc.Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred, refrigeration experience a plusExperience working with basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, temperature devices, etc. Hands-on Refrigeration experience preferredAbility to operate computers, smartphones, and related software efficientlyEffective interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal directionAbility to work independently diagnosing and solving using schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other technical resourcesKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work EnvironmentAction Oriented – takes on opportunities and challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm, and consistently meets deadlinesStrong Customer Focus – builds strong relationships and delivers customer-centric serviceAbility to lift 50 lbs with assistance, and carry 25-30 Lbs. continuously throughout the dayAbility to drive frequently within the territory and travel overnight if requiredMaintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving
