KBR is recognized as Honeywell’s #1 rated vendor, demonstrating its commitment to excellence in the aerospace sector.Job SummaryThe Field Quality Engineer  Specialist will oversee and ensure quality assurance processes across various aspects, including First Article Inspection Requirements (FAIR), FAIR reviews/approvals, NET INSPECT per AS9102, Critical Safety Item audits, and self release program audits . This role also involves  conducting gap analyses and ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The candidate will prepare and present metrics related to quality trends and improvements as it applies to supplier transitions.Additional responsibilities include preparing progress reports, conducting supplier audits, and managing continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will focus on control, variation reduction, and quality requirement compliance, in line with Honeywell’s supplier initiatives.This position will require local travel, sometimes on a daily basis, to meet with suppliers to perform mechanical inspections of various aerospace products and commodities.  May require overnight travel to support customer needs.
 Roles and Responsibilities You will be responsible for quality assurance processes including, but not limited to, First Article Inspection Requirements (FAIR), Self-Release and product audits.     Evaluate   supplier customer self-release program, quality systems and conduct gap analysis where requiredEvaluate procedures for compliance to contractual and regulatory requirements for self-release requirements. Prepare and present metrics associated with quality trends and related improvements within the supply base.Prepare progress reports, program reviews as needed, to assure the highest quality and cost effectiveness from the suppliersPerform other duties as assignedControl, variation reduction, quality requirement compliance, Six Sigma, and other Honeywell sponsored supplier initiativesBasic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience with 3 years of experience in manufacturing/assembly operations, quality engineering (design or manufacturing), and materials/procurement; preferably in aerospace electronics; these areas may be replaced by related military experience.  (In lieu of formal education, at least 13 years of progressive experience in a related field.)Certified Green Belt or equivalent; Lean Expert or Black Belt preferred.Experience with Automotive or Aerospace products preferredAdditional experience or training in RCCA, Process Mapping, FMEAs and Control Plans or APQP/PPAP preferred.Experience using Six Sigma Plus tools preferred.Willingness to travel up to 50-75% for both local and occasional regional travel. US citizen required due to client contracts.Preferred Qualifications Experience in Supplier Quality as a field representative performing various audits.Experience with QA systems such as AS9100, ISO, Conducting Audits, and Corrective Actions.Experience with use of NetInspect and reviewing and approving First Articles per AS9102.Must be subject matter expert in GD&T and will be required to pass a 100 question, 3 hour examination and achieve a score of 90% after being hired. Must complete a comprehensive job qualification requirements program (JQR) within 6 months of accepting the position to achieve ability to approve Frist Articles and self release/critical safety items audits per customer requirements.Ability to interact with all levels of supplier management.Proven track record with supplier oversightExperience in leading teams focused on problem solving and improvements.Good communication skills with the ability to provide a clear vision of the strategy and processes for key stakeholders.High level of analytical ability to identify and evaluate appropriate courses of action for definition and resolution of complex problems.Certification/trained in IPC610/620.Knowledge in the following commodities:   sheet metal, machining, electronics, electromechanical, castings, welding, heat treat and plating cleaning. Salary for Torrance, CA: $90,000 to 105,000.
