Job Title 

Field Quality Engineer

Role Overview: 

The field quality engineering role will support improvements to product and process quality through the planning, implementation, and improvement of the quality system. Work with associates and engineers in identifying and eliminating the sources of quality defects through robust product and process improvements.

On a typical day you will: 

Develop/update FMEAs, Process Control Plans, and other quality system documents

Ability to work effectively by collaborating with all disciplines including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field personnel

Document investigation results and summarize technical details

Lead teams in the performance of root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for quality defects

Support other functional departments when needed during investigations and or problem solving projects or events

Analyze data sets (drawing conclusions about product and process performance) and communicate recommendations to leaders with the aid of data visualizations

Provides detail summaries and presentations to team and reports to management in Quality and Leadership reviews

Provides detail summaries to other functional groups to initiate Problem Solving projects or events when necessary

Conduct improvement activities to enhance the process, such as 5S, TPM, 8D, Standard Work, etc.

Strong foundation in new product introduction and product development processes to ensure new products and product changes are in conformance with the design

Departmental coordination and project management to ensure program/project deliverables are met per plan and timelines given

What You Will Need to be Successful: 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical engineering preferred

Experience/Qualifications:

3+ years in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment preferred

Lean/6 Sigma certification a plus

Required Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work well under pressure & collaborate in a team environment

Ability to effectively analyze data sets

Application of quality improvement and root cause analysis tools (FMEA, Gage R&R, 8D, DOE, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto Charts, etc.)

Application of Lean/6 Sigma manufacturing tools (5S, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, SIPOC, Poka Yoke, Kaizen, Hypothesis testing, etc.)

Application of continuous improvement methodology (DMAIC, PDCA, etc.)

Project management

Knowledge of ISO9001

Experience with supplier quality and PPAP acceptance a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand/walk frequently

Infrequent lifting up to 20 lbs

Infrequent push/pulling exertion 20 lbs
