Field Engineer I, II, III - Primoris Industrial & Civil

Primoris Industrial and Civil is hiring Field Engineers of all experience levels for projects across Texas, with some travel. This full-time, field-based role involves planning and overseeing midstream EPC projects. This position includes per diem eligibility upon meeting certain requirements.

Position Overview

The Field Engineer will support construction activities, provide project administration, and assist the Project Manager on EPC projects. 

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for project engineering of assigned project(s)
• Overall responsible for project execution, including assigned project resources.
• Develop and issue project execution plans for every project.
• Manage overall project schedule and budget including management reporting.
• Prepare project status reports addressing schedule, budget, staffing, safety, and open issues.
• Stays on top of all communication and tracking tools, e.g., Action Items, Requests for Information, Decisions, Deviation Notices, and Change Orders
• Monitor sub-contractor quality, cost, and schedule performance.
• Manage review project Specifications, Standards, Drawing Reviews, and coordination with vendors and customers.
• Monitor and coordinate engineering site visits, and responses to contractor inquiries
• Monitor delivery and review of documents, drawings, and submittals
• Attend job site meetings with contractors, consultants, and customers to review and monitor progress on activities.
• Initial review of vendor and sub-contractor payment applications, validating project progress against approved schedule of values
• Evaluate, negotiate, and make recommendations regarding proposed change directives & change orders.
• Interacting with clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
• Reviewing engineering deliverables and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
• Managing project scope, schedule, quality, and risk.
• Creating and submitting RFIs to resolve information gaps, eliminate ambiguities, and capture and share specific decisions during the project.
• Following up on RFIs and ensuring timely and accurate responses from the relevant parties.
• Documenting and tracking all RFIs and their impacts on the project scope, schedule, and cost.
• Supporting the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• BS, MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• NCEES P.E. License preferred.
• 6-8+ years of experience in the onshore Oil & Gas or Energy industry
• 5+ years of experience managing multiple projects at the same time.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed to ensure successful project execution.
• Strong technical knowledge of engineering, design, and construction of onshore upstream and midstream facilities
• Project Management Experience in Engineering and/or Construction firm
• Engineering and design experience with 5+ years working as Project Engineer on multiple projects.
• Experience managing multiple individual projects of $5M or greater.
• Technical knowledge and understanding of project scheduling and estimating.
• General understanding of HSSEQ programs and requirements

Software Skills

• Intermediate to advanced skill level with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong MS Project capabilities and experience
• Some software capabilities with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio
