The purpose of the role is as follows:
To ensure the oversight and compliance of collective investment schemes with regulatory standards.
To collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to implement oversight processes and provide key insights to support decision-making while mitigating potential risks
Are you someone who can:
Oversee and provide guidance to collective investment scheme management companies in terms of the Act and the Deed to ensure the protection of underlying participatory interest holdersBuild and sustain collaborative working relationships with peers and stakeholders, such as Credit, Legal and Risk and Compliance, to achieve team goals and objectives to fulfil the Trustee responsibilities as prescribed in the act, deed, and subordinate regulation·Keep abreast of draft regulation up for comment that impacts collective investment schemes and provide required inputRead, interpret and apply CIS trust documents (Deed, Act and subordinate regulation) language to specific situations, overseeing the frequent distributions of cash or assets by the management company.Provide CIS fiduciary oversight and answer difficult or complex questions regarding collective investment schemes and portfolio fiduciary risk and compliance oversight.Review documents and work with team members to ensure proper documentation of management company actions, policies and procedures.Develop an understanding of risks and risk management approaches. (e.g. VaR)Provide timeous reports on management company conduct and oversight, scheme audit reporting and processes as well as regulatory reporting required from time to time.Perform regular oversight of portfolio investment compliance in terms of the Deed, Act and subordinate regulationYou will be an ideal candidate if you have the following:
Qualifications
Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Audit, Accounting, Risk, Mathematics, or Investment-related fieldPreferred qualification: Honour’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Commerce, Finance, Audit, Accounting, Risk, Mathematics, or Investment-related field CFA / FRM, or studying towards these qualificationsExperience and Skills
Minimum of 3-5 years in a similar environment or in an asset management organisation. Prior CIS experience is an advantage.An understanding of regulations, and the interpretation of compliance requirementsAn understanding of financial analytics and the interpretation of financial informationUnderstanding of Collective Investment Scheme fund accounting, investment compliance and riskYou will have access to:
