For the health of our community ... we are proud to be a tobacco-free campus. **Responsibilities** The Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (Phoenix, AZ) is starting an Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) Fellowship program and is looking for one or two inaugural candidates. This fellowship, while new, has been thoughtfully designed and structured to provide a rewarding experience and includes one-on-one support, mentoring and outstanding training for the individual(s). The Norton Thoracic Institute APP Fellowship is a one-year program beginning Sept/Oct 2024. The APP Fellowship offers an intensive, comprehensive one-year post-graduate opportunity for an early career APP to join one of the nation’s leading advanced pulmonary and lung transplant groups. The ideal APP candidate will be a recent graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program or someone looking to change specialties. We are particularly interested in finding someone who has a strong desire to learn, to build clinical experience and confidence in the areas of advanced lung disease, pulmonary critical care and lung transplant and is willing to help shape the future of our APP Fellowship program. NTI is a premier organization that includes a team of seven thoracic and esophageal surgeons, nine pulmonologists, four critical care intensivists, as well as a team of over 30 NP/PAs, all dedicated to the highest quality care of patients with thoracic diseases. The NTI is nationally recognized for its excellence in patient care in a collegial and collaborative environment and is home to one of the busiest and highest quality lung transplant programs in the country having performed over 1,200 lung transplants since the program inception in 2007. This position is a 12-month, post graduate role for a PA to receive additional experience and training. Working in collaboration with the NTI APP teams and attending physicians and with graduated autonomy based on meeting clinical milestones, will obtain accurate history and physical examination, write orders, review patient records, recommend therapeutic interventions, counsel patients and families, and provide other direct care interventions as appropriate and within the scope of practice. + Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients as appropriate and within the scope of practice. + Takes patient histories, performs physicial examinations and performs appropriate procedures + As necessary, performs and documents admissions, discharges and progress notes. + Orders appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis and provide care and management. + May assist with the coordination of care with care management and facilitate admission, transfer and/or discharge. + Participates in multi-discilinary rounding with physicians and coordinators. + Attends and actively participates in Fellowship educational activities, including didactic sessions and simulation labs + Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement projects and related committees. + Additional duties as assigned by Medical Director or other NTI Leadership. **Qualifications** **MINIMUM** Degree from a Physician Assistant School Arizona PA-C American Heart Association BCLS ACLS Specialty certification when applicable; acceptable if obtained within the first 12 months. **Pay Range** $38.81 - $65.21 /hour We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
