Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced FAE- Principal Embedded Solutions Engineer to join our South-Central team. This role is ideal for a unique individual with over 10 years of experience in embedded engineering, possessing outstanding technical skills and a passion for customer engagement.

 

As an FAE- Principal Embedded Solutions Engineer, you will leverage your insights and influencing skills to educate clients about their industry and offer unique perspectives on their technology, linking back to Microchip's solutions. Your engineering design skills, techniques, and knowledge will be crucial in decreasing client development time, reducing overall system costs, and improving the performance of their end products. You will provide comprehensive support in hardware, firmware, middleware, and development tools to accelerate the product development schedules of our clients. This position will allow you to become a trusted technical advisor, engaging with clients primarily in the computing industry within the South-Central US region.

Key Responsibilities

Drive design wins to revenue applying the Microchip Total System Solutions approach

Adopt, lead, and comprehensively utilize all elements of Microchip’s Sales Operating System to create and secure design-wins

Develop custom embedded firmware solutions to support customer designs

Provide in-depth engineering support and assist customers with hardware and software development

Adapt existing reference designs to address specific customer needs

Will primarily work with clients in the computing industry

Travel to receive training or to support other regions as needed

Requirements/Qualifications:

Technical Requirements:

BSc or BEng in Electronic Engineering or equivalent

10+ years of experience with embedded system design including:

Extensive Experience with embedded microcontrollers and system architecture design and development

Experience with embedded C programming language and associated tools

Experience with RTOS

Experience with firmware update and bootloaders in microcontrollers

Experience with I2C/SPI/UART serial communications interfaces

Strong problem solving and system debugging skills

Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts

Experience with hardware design

Experience with schematic capture and layout tools

Experience with digital logic analyzer tools (such as Saleae Logic Pro)

Experience with Oscilloscopes

Experience with Python

Organizational Skill requirements:

Work effectively with Field Sales colleagues and teams

Ability to operate under minimal guidance and assume personal responsibility/accountability comfortably

Establish trust and credibility with customers and regional teams

Effectively manage prioritization of many opportunities and customers

Self-starting learner – proactively keeps up to date with new technologies and products

Work effectively with other regions and divisional applications

Proficient written and verbal skills in English

Accomplished Presentation and Training skills

Additional Desired Skills

Experience with GIT source control management

Experience with secure boot and secure firmware update in microcontrollers

Experience with wired or wireless networking hardware/software

Experience with embedded Linux

Experience with TDD for embedded C

Experience with Agile project management

Understanding of PC and Server architecture
