The Knight Cancer Institute’s Melanoma Program announces recruitment for a Melanoma Medical Oncologist with an emphasis on immuno-oncology and translational research. This position will be a medical oncologist with rank commensurate with experience in the development and performance of clinical trials, immuno-oncology publications, and a record of successful collaboration. Successful candidates will have an appointment within the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology with secondary appointments in Cell Development and Cancer Biology, and Dermatology.

 

The Knight Melanoma Program embraces a team-based approach and includes an interactive and engaged multidisciplinary group of providers and scientists from across OHSU. This position offers substantial protected time for academic endeavors and an extraordinary opportunity to integrate clinical care and research into a highly dynamic environment, inclusive of robust programs in immuno-oncology, targeted therapeutics and melanoma tumor biology.

The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology currently has over 110 faculty and is comprised of programs in the general hematology, solid tumor oncology, bone marrow transplant & cellular therapy, hematological malignancies, and palliative medicine. The Division also oversees faculty in a number of community practices, known as Community Hematology and Oncology (CHO), and maintains a strong collaboration with the VA Medical Center, linked to the main campus by a skybridge.  Our clinical practices enroll more than 5,000 new patients each year.

 

The Division, the largest component of the Knight Cancer Institute, has a goal of providing outstanding patient care, ensuring access to high quality clinical and translational clinical trials, and integration of basic research. The Division has grown significantly over the past decade, and significant growth is projected.

Function/Duties of Position

The duties of our clinical faculty positions are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and may include:

Participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and ChairCare of patients with hematologic and/or oncologic diseaseEstablish and maintain a program of scholarly activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, Participate in administrative committees and councils of OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division HeadEngage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head

It is anticipated a clinical faculty position will be made up of the following components: Clinical, Teaching Research/Academic, and Service. Academic rank will be based on qualifications.

Required Qualifications MD or MD/PhDLicensed to practice medicine in OregonBoard-certified in Internal MedicineBoard eligible/certified in Hematology and/or Medical OncologyDemonstrated background, focus, and drive to excel, as well as the desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patient in a clinical research environmentProven track record of teaching, basic, clinical or population research and excellent patient care Preferred Qualifications Proven success in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teamsHistory of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research Additional Details
