Posting Details Job Title Faculty in Applied Mathematics (Tenure Track/Tenured) Department MATHEMATICS & STATISTICS Position Number F0338A1 Job Description The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Old Dominion University invites applications for a position specializing in Applied Mathematics to begin in Fall 2025. We are especially looking for faculty whose research is in an area of applied mathematics that complements and enhances the existing research groups in applied mathematics are especially encouraged to apply. This is an open rank (at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank), annual 10-month tenure track/tenured appointment, with initial rank commensurate with experience. The position carries a teaching load of 2 courses/semester, with a reduced course load during the first two years to support the establishment of a strong research program. In addition to teaching, the appointee will actively pursue external research grants and supervise Ph.D. student research. Undergraduate research supervision and interdisciplinary research collaboration with other researchers at ODU or with external partners are also encouraged. Candidates applying for a senior faculty appointment (Associate or Full Professor) will also play a leadership role in the department, including mentoring junior faculty, as part of their duties and responsibilities. Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities Preferred Qualifications + A strong publication record in respected journals, conferences, research program that complements and expands that of current faculty within the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. + A history of successful funding. + Experience in grant proposal writing. + Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Experience mentoring students and faculty is highly preferred for candidates applying for senior faculty appointments.
