ROLE PURPOSE
The role is responsible for the smooth running of the customer’s on-site Data Centre’s, Server Rooms, Boardrooms and IS Workspaces. The engineer will support environments where infrastructure includes, but is not limited to, HVAC(Cooling), power redundancy (UPS, Inverter, Generator), Environment monitoring, fire detection, access control and audio visual.
The role supports the customer though the resolution of data centre and VC incidents and outages, identification and actioning data centre risk, improvements to current data centre environments and, monitoring of data centre facilities.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, direct and controls data centre and server room facilities on behalf of client.Monitor and ensure the functioning of data centre and sever room facilities.Identify and action or escalate risks.Ensure the proper planning, installation, and commissioning of new data centre services as needed.Liaise with vendors for the management of current services, and the planning and installation of new services.Decommissioning and storage or disposal of facilities that is no longer required by the client.Responsibilities are in the data centre infrastructure and facilities function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.Extensive local travel.EXPERIENCE
5+ years proven track record experience in data centre facilities or infrastructure management.Experience in HVAC (Cooling), power redundancy (UPS, inverter, generator), environmental monitoring, fire detection, access control.Experience in Video conferring and audio-visual infrastructure.Experience in fast paced ICT delivery environments with competing and changing priorities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to drive issues to resolution.Good interpersonal skills and ability to build sound business relationships with stakeholders.Good written and spoken communications at all levels of business.Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.Organised approach to work, managing own and others workload.Experienced at setting up meetings and keeping minutes.Experience in use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Experience in a mining or industrial environment.QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12ICT-related qualification or certification (or equivalent work experience)Infrastructure or facilities qualifications or certifications preferred.
