If you’re ready to work on our planes, join our Tech Ops experts and help keep our fleet in tip-top shape. **Key Responsibilities:** This position will be part of a dynamic team engineers and subject matter experts managing a continuous improvement model and strategy that enables United to provide safe, dependable baggage handling and facility systems in accordance with business requirements, cost savings initiatives and total cost of ownership. This role will represent the facilities organization in the planning and implementation of up to $1B of baggage handling system investment and ongoing development and integration of building automation systems for hub airport buildings and facilities equipment in accordance with industry best practices, safety, environmental, local, state, and federal regulations. + Collaborates with internal and external partners to design and implement new baggage systems, or major baggage handling system upgrades that include mechanical, industrial controls, software, and TSA screening sub systems. Partners with Corp Real Estate, Airport Operations, Digital Technology, and external partners in developing and maintaining technical specifications for baggage handling and building automation systems investment and modification. + Collaborates with engineering and maintenance teams throughout product lifecycles to ensure engineering integrity of new and existing facilities systems for safe, dependable, and ongoing cost-effective operations. Oversees design and implementation of equipment and facility modifications to address safety, reliability, and performance issues. + Establishes and reviews proactive readiness and response procedures with frontline and partner teams to minimize impact from system outages and/or external impact. Supports frontline maintenance organizations for unplanned outage events affecting baggage handling operations. Leads teams in incident response, root cause analysis, developing and implementing mitigation and improvement action plans. + Leads the creation, implementation, and ongoing oversight of maintenance programs for baggage handling systems. Guides preventative maintenance programs and maintenance optimization in accordance with manufacture and industry best practices for baggage handling systems or facilities equipment and infrastructure. Focuses on predictive, preventive maintenance that will maximize planned maintenance, reduce unplanned work to improve operational reliability of facilities equipment. + Works with leadership to establish KPIs and contributes to development of reporting systems for baggage handling systems and airport facility asset performance. Guides development of maintenance monitoring strategy, systems, and infrastructure to support proactive and predictive maintenance for baggage system and facility assets. Leads facilities reliability programs including collection and reporting of operational data, trends, root cause analysis, and identification of corrective actions to ensure the effectiveness and improvement of maintenance programs. + Guides development of technical engineering maintenance and safety program management; system reliability and life cycle management analysis; and technical systems training curriculums + Leads team and collaborates with partners for innovation and continuous improvement in baggage handling and facility operations. NOTE: This position is considered as a hybrid-work schedule and will need to be located at one of United’s Hub location (specifically ORD, IAH, EWR) **Qualifications** **What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):** + Associate’s degree in Industrial Controls, Programmable Logic Controls, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years relevant work experience + 3+ years of experience working with baggage handling system and/or TSA screening system design and implementation + 3+ years of experience in building automation controls including connectivity and monitoring of jet bridge assets + 2+ years of experience overseeing facilities maintenance projects, and/or engineering and technical management + 2+ years of experience collaborating with large scale critical initiatives and/or process improvement projects/programs + Ability to build strong internal and external business relationships including managing multiple vendors + Planning and communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, organizational management, defining accountability, identifying improvement opportunities + Advanced skills with productivity and collaboration tools including MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams etc. + Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings + Accountable for consistent and clear communication to team, leadership, and collaborators + Physical location of this role will be at a HUB location: either ORD, IAH, EWR + Must be willing and able to travel 30% domestic and international + Must be willing and able to work a hybrid work schedule and need to be located at one of United’s Hub locations + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship + Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification + Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position **What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):** + Bachelor’s degree or 4 years relevant work experience + Relevant experience with digital technology, networking, vision systems, robotics, project management + 5+ years of experience with airport facilities maintenance operations + Knowledge HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering + 5+ years of experience in an airline operations including baggage handling or ramp operations + 3+ years of experience in digital technology architecture, networking, cyber security, or applications development + Current leader of maintenance organization supporting airline hub operations + Experience leading teams in multiple locations + Experience leading sophisticated matrixed operations in airport/aviation setting + Proven capability to influence and manage change The base pay range for this role is $99,750.00 to $135,960.00. The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
