The Opportunity:Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment (particularly HVAC, power & control systems), and compliance with laws and regulations. Focuses on optimizing and improving maintenance practices, minimizing downtime and reducing losses. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities projects. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes. Works independently within guidelines and policies, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and provides functional guidance.Analyze all current HVAC, Controls & Electrical systems processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvement strategies for optimal resource use, cost savings, and increased throughputEnsure all Central Utilities Plant processes and training align with safety regulations and environmental standards, actively contributing to a safe working environmentProvide strong vendor management oversight to control costs, ensure excellent service deliverability, minimize potential safety risks, equipment downtime and drive for optimum asset life from our vendors throughout the lifecycle of their contractual relationship.Coordinates upgrades and system support activities for automation systems.Designs, implements and supports automation systems.Gather and interpret operational data to monitor performance metrics, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations for process improvements.Investigate causes of equipment downtime, analyze data to identify patterns, and develop strategies to reduce or eliminate downtime.Work with the maintenance team to create and improve preventive and predictive maintenance plans that enhance equipment reliability and extend the lifespan of assetsIdentify sources of operational and production losses, including equipment inefficiencies and process bottlenecks, and implement solutions to minimize waste and improve productivityConduct root cause analyses for recurring issues, employing problem-solving methodologies like 5-Whys or Fishbone diagrams to understand and address underlying causesMonitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to downtime, maintenance, and losses. Prepare regular reports to communicate findings and improvement opportunitiesDefines scopes of work and supervises contract labor for small and medium projects under some supervision.Supervises contractor evaluation and selection process. Manages contractor inspection process to ensure safety and complianceWho you are:You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.You have 5 years in manufacturing, preferably in a biotech or diagnostic equipment industry with controls and automation experienceEquivalent combination of education and work-related experience accepted.Relocation benefits are available for this job posting.The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is between $99,600 and $185,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
