Under general supervision, with instructions given for routine assignments and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments, this position performs repairs and maintenance of office and building facilities, machinery and equipment. Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance areas such as carpentry, plumbing, machine and equipment repair, basic electrical repair, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conducts routine, periodic or special inspections, as directed, to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Safely uses hand and power tools as necessary. Assists in moving machinery and equipment.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Maintains and repairs plumbing.
+ Performs basic maintenance on electrical pneumatic and heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (belt tension or replacement, filter replacement) equipment.
+ Maintains and repairs office and building interiors and exteriors including carpentry and painting.
+ May troubleshoot and test machines and equipment.
+ Moves, repositions or sets up equipment or machinery. May move furniture.
+ Drives company vehicle to on and offsite locations.
+ Responsible for observing all laws, codes, federal, state and local regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Additional Functions
+ May perform industrial mechanic tasks as required.
+ Other duties as assigned or required.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years progressive experience in facilities maintenance.
+ Must demonstrate a full understanding of facilities maintenance principles and concepts.
+ Must have full knowledge of and discretion in safely operating hand and power tools and various types of maintenance equipment.
Must be customer focused and possess:
+ A valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV;
+ Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.;
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, layouts and other mechanical drawings;
+ Good analytical ability to recognize deviations from accepted practice as well as evaluate and participate in providing solutions to non-routine issues;
+ Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to work with all levels of employees and to accurately communicate, document and report; and
+ Basic knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field. The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required. Two-year technical degree or trade school equivalent desirable.
