Facilities Intern/Summer Helper

Janicki Industries is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility. The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on todays most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. At Janicki, we work on complex parts and assemblies for aerospace and space exploration markets. We are looking for an Facilities Intern to join our growing team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Interns are students who work for Janicki Industries to obtain work experience.  They work full-time during the summer.  Work assignments are made by the Maintenance Supervisor and will also depend upon the projects currently available at the time the student is employed. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following essential job functions are performed as a Facilities Intern.

Assist millwrights and maintenance techs with machine maintenance. Sweep floors. Filter replacements. Empty garbage cans/dumpsters. Operation of grinders, bandsaws, die grinders, and various hand tools. Janicki Certified Forklift, Floor Sweeper, and Manlift Operation. Janicki will provide training. Use basic hand tools. Shop cleaning and organization. General grounds keeping. Receives and carries out directions from designated Supervisors and Production Leads. Must be able to understand and comply with Safety Practices. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly, FOD free condition. Performs on the job training, AS9100 training and other training as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.  The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 18 years old.  Enrolled in Tech College or an ABET accredited college or university preferred. Working knowledge of basic math. Must be able to work well in an integrated, multidisciplinary, collaborative, team environment, including daily interactions with technicians, millwrights, machinists, engineers, and managers. Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to multi-task. Must be able to work well independently and under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. Must possess effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Wage range for this role is between $18 - $25 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
