To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add a Facilities/Industrial Engineering Intern located in our Austin, TX site.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the intern will work on challenging projects in support of real-time business issues, to develop skills and experiences. Our collaborative culture extends to our summer interns who will spend time as a cohort completing a Kaizen and volunteering in the community while also working independently on projects and daily duties with their respective teams.
What a typical day looks like:
Apply engineering design principles to develop manufacturing equipment layouts, facility utility requirements, process flows, and equipment requirements used in processing or manufacturing productsEvaluate facility impact of engineering proposals by documenting process and utility requirements, space utilization, and related technical data pertaining to industrial facilities machinery and equipment designAssist with manufacturing decision-making by providing technical facilities information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, process advantages and limitations, cost and scheduling, and space allocation constraintsRecommend methods for improving process efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as reorganizing work flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of new equipmentInterface with product, test, quality, and other engineering groups to understand manufacturing requirements and design constraintsEvaluate high-level plant space usage and process locations to identify opportunities for efficiency improvement and facilitate the integration of new product linesParticipate in initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost, and improve performance in constrained areas like LEAN, Automation and/or Six-Sigma projectsStudent qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:
Currently enrolled Senior pursuing a BS degree in Mechanical or Industrial EngineeringEnthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environmentStrong verbal, presentation, and written communication skillsStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in teams and collaborate with othersAbility to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environmentPrevious manufacturing internship experience a plus!Internship Program Requirements:
