Responsibilities General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, equipment lubrication, etc. Inspect buildings and equipment for any issues or potential problems. Repairs: Repair or replace broken or damaged items such as doors, windows, locks, walls, etc. Fix plumbing issues, including unclogging drains and repairing leaks. Repair or replace electrical fixtures and appliances (basic electrical work). Installation: Install new appliances, fixtures, and equipment. Hang shelves, pictures, mirrors, and other items securely. Carpentry: Perform basic carpentry work such as repairing furniture, cabinets, and doors. Build or repair fences, decks, and other wooden structures. Painting Paint walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as needed. Install wallpaper or other wall coverings. Cleaning and Caretaking: Clean and maintain outdoor areas such as yards and gardens. Housekeeping on utility buildings. Emergency Repairs: Respond to emergency repair requests promptly, such as fixing burst pipes or securing premises. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all work complies with relevant safety standards and regulations. Identify potential hazards and take appropriate measures to address them. Problem-Solving: Diagnose problems accurately and propose effective solutions. Adapt to unexpected situations or changes in the work environment. Tools and Equipment Management: Maintain and organize tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. Properly use and store hazardous materials and chemicals, following safety guidelines. Documentation: Keep records of maintenance and repair work performed. Report on completed jobs and any outstanding issues. Technical Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment used in the repair of mechanical/electrical and process and utilities equipment to include procedures for diagnosing malfunctions as well as the operation of equipment. Safety Thorough knowledge of current and accepted occupational safety and health practices and principles to include safety and equipment design regulations. Behaviour/Skill The person should be a self-starter with innovative technical abilities. The person has to have analytical abilities to resolve mechanical plant breakdowns with permanent solutions. The endurance level of this individual has to be above average because of long hours and sometimes-physical activities. Ability to work shifts. The person must be a team player with ability to communicate precisely and engage different stakeholders. Qualifications Qualifications Grade 12. N3 mechanical/electrical/civil engineering qualification. Minimum 2 years maintenance experience in the FMCG environment.
