The Welder Shop Piping Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the welding and piping department. This role ensures the efficient execution of projects, adherence to safety standards, and delivering high-quality work within specified deadlines. The foreman will supervise a team of welders and pipefitters, coordinate resources, and maintain clear communication with project managers and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
+ Supervision and Leadership
+ Lead and manage a team of welders, pipefitters, and support staff.
+ Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on project requirements and skill levels.
+ Monitor team performance and provide training, guidance, and support to ensure high productivity and skill development.
+ Project Coordination
+ Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution of work.
+ Plan and schedule tasks to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
+ Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure alignment on project goals.
+ Quality Control
+ Inspect welds, piping assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
+ Address and resolve issues related to defects, non-conformities, or rework requirements.
+ Safety Compliance
+ Enforce adherence to safety protocols and procedures in the shop environment.
+ Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure the availability of proper protective equipment.
+ Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
+ Resource Management
+ Manage inventory levels of tools, equipment, and materials required for welding and piping projects.
+ Maintain and ensure proper functioning of welding machines, tools, and equipment.
+ Documentation and Reporting
+ Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and team performance.
+ Prepare and submit progress reports to project managers and supervisors.
+ Document and address any incidents or accidents that occur on-site.
Qualifications and Requirements
+ Proven experience as a welder, pipefitter, or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position.
+ Strong knowledge of welding processes, piping systems, and relevant materials.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
+ Familiarity with industry safety standards and best practices (e.g., OSHA).
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
+ Certification in welding (e.g., AWS, ASME) is highly preferred.
+ Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation purposes.
Working Conditions
+ Primarily shop-based with occasional site visits as required.
+ Will involve exposure to high temperatures, noise, and physical labor.
+ Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required during operations.
