Position Purpose:
The Interior Installation Technician Senior is responsible for performing the removal, installation, and fabrication of aircraft interiors under limited supervision. This includes working on various aircraft components such as trim, carpet, soundproofing, light structures, cabinetry, panels, and other accessories. The Senior Technician will ensure that all work is completed in accordance with company design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. Additionally, the Senior Technician will mentor and train other Interior Installation Technicians, ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Interior Removal, Installation, and Fabrication:
Safely perform the removal, installation, and fabrication of aircraft interior components, including galleys, closets, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, doors, and panels.
Work with materials such as Nomex honeycomb, fiberglass, Lexan, and acrylic materials to ensure high-quality installation and fabrication.
Compliance and Documentation:
Coordinate with supervision and inspection teams to ensure compliance with Repair Station procedures, FAA regulations, and internal quality specifications.
Complete all required paperwork, including sign-offs, to verify work has been performed according to company and FAA standards.
Utilize material tracking systems to manage parts demands, track squawks, and sign off completed work.
Mentorship and Training:
Mentor and train junior Interior Installation Technicians, providing guidance and support in completing tasks according to quality standards.
Review technicians' work prior to sign-off to ensure compliance with company specifications and quality control processes.
Lead Responsibilities:
Take on lead responsibilities as needed, overseeing specific projects and technicians, and ensuring the required materials, documentation, and manpower are available.
Assess project requirements, and work with team members to procure the necessary materials and resources for successful task completion.
Tools and Equipment Maintenance:
Safely use hand tools, band saws, shears, sanders, brakes, and other equipment required for aircraft interior installation and fabrication.
Properly maintain and care for shop equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
Aircraft Interior Installation:
Prepare and install interior items for aircraft in strict accordance with company operational procedures, safety standards, and quality guidelines.
Remove and re-install nut plates, inserts, and other fasteners used in aircraft interiors, ensuring proper use of hardware and fittings during installations.
Safety and Compliance:
Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Address any unsafe conditions promptly to prevent potential risks to personnel or property.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Adapt to schedule changes as required, coordinating with other shops and departments to ensure project timelines are met.
Assist other technicians with aircraft maintenance requirements as needed.
Additional Functions:
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with lead technicians and management to identify and implement process improvements aimed at reducing costs, cycle time, and man-hours.
Utilize Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques to drive efficiency within the department.
Pattern Making:
Create and use simple patterns for personal use, following standardized procedures to aid in the installation or fabrication of interior components.
Flight Testing and Certification Support:
Support aircraft certification and final phase testing, which may include performing flight tests as required by the project.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership or as required for the role.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of experience in aircraft interior installation, fabrication, or a related field.
Aerospace industry experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Advanced knowledge of aircraft interior installation and fabrication processes, including the installation of galleys, closets, lavatories, bulkheads, doors, panels, and other aircraft components.
Skills and Knowledge:
Blueprint and Documentation Interpretation:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering documentation, and work orders related to interior installation tasks.
Hand and Power Tools:
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools such as band saws, shears, sanders, and brakes commonly used in aircraft interior installation.
Physical Requirements:
Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined or restricted areas, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Capable of working any shift as required.
Computer Literacy:
Must be computer literate and capable of using software programs for material tracking and documentation purposes.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and other departments.
Material Handling:
Ability to work with and handle various materials used in aircraft interiors, including composite panels, metals, and hardware.
Mentoring Ability:
Experience mentoring or training less experienced technicians, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safe working practices.
Safety and Compliance Awareness:
Strong knowledge of safety procedures and protocols, with the ability to identify and resolve unsafe conditions on the job.
Process Improvement:
Ability to engage in continuous improvement activities using Lean Six Sigma methodologies or similar process improvement techniques.
Other Requirements:
Must be fluent in the English language, with the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must possess the ability to adapt to sudden schedule changes and coordinate with other shops and departments as required.
Pay Details: $32.19 per hour
