Job Description

Under the general guidance of the Restaurant General Manager, The F&B J1 Intern is responsible for meeting, greeting, and seating guests, in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. The ideal candidate will be able to seat guests and manage the flow of reservations to maximize the guest experience. They will also be responsible for answering the phone and taking, tracking, and organizing reservations, to-go orders, and special requests.

Duties & Functions:            

Must love and support their TEAM!Must love and take care of guests!Must say “yes” and “thank you” often!Greet all guests warmlyMaintain a clean and organized reception areaApproaches guest and collects information needed to assist with seat and bar arrangementsConstantly provides guests with accurate information about the restaurant and property as well as entertainment offered in eachWorks with a sense of urgency to anticipate guest and team members needs when the opportunity arisesMaintains knowledge of the restaurant floor plan and table numbers, seating the room evenly and consistently per management’s instructionCommunicates with management, and service staff immediately to rectify any and all guest needs and requestsEnsure work area is in compliance with the Florida health codes at all timesAny other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or managerWe recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service.  We will on occasion call for each individual in the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional service
Qualifications

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

High School Diploma or equivalent requiredOne to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotelKnowledge of Open Table preferredMust have an exceptional personality and hospitality driven attitudePossess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanorAbility to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level attention to detailMaintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departmentsAbility to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamworkMust be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.Must be able observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend climb and carry objects as necessary.Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
