Summary
Owens Corning is looking for Extruder Operators to safely operate and perform tasks on both Rockford’s foam extruders, including but not limited to: product changeovers, maintaining process within targets, performing inspections and CILT’s, Resin Slilo unloading, and reporting out performance. Due to the complexity of this position, there will be two levels; Extruder Operator: Level 1 and Extruder Operator: Level 2. Employees must be in good standing and proficient in being an Extruder Operator: Level 1 before moving to Level 2.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Level 1:
Live the safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities while adhering to all housekeeping requirements. Understand and master navigation of HMI and Dashboard portal Start up, operate, and complete basic changeovers Understand and master navigation of Process Explorer, Aspen Tech and IP21 Locate and able to operate all jam-up and emergency stop buttons Maintain process within specifications and targets Read and follow detailed plans and instructions Complete reports and provide feedback to supervisors and support personnel on abnormalities and observations Start up, operate, changeover and complete basic trouble shooting of: Blowing agents and BA Meter System Solid feed systems CO2 metering system Slinkies Drawing vacuum and operating board measuring device Die gaps Must be able to understand and use DMC I and DMC II Complete melt flow testing as required Read & understand Production Schedule using SAP All other tasks as assigned
Resin Silo Unloading:
Understand silo and surge bin hookup diagram Understand resin silo manifold Properly direct and verify resin unloading hookup.
Quality Operations
Operate board sampling equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate board testing equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate resin testing equipment and perform all associated tasks. Complete paperwork/data entry requirements and perform all associated tasks. Operate quality control HMI systems and perform all associated tasks.
90º Operations
Operate pond equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate dancer equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate printer equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate board thickness indicator equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate 1st pass equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate finish saw equipment and perform all associated tasks. Operate bar coder equipment and perform all associated tasks. Direct and or assist on a lower building changeover up to the 2nd pass of the 90º.
Level 2:
In addition to all Level 1 tasks:
Must be able to complete startups, operate, advanced trouble-shoot and advanced changeovers Start up, operate, and complete advanced changeovers Clear and defined understanding and can explain the process in detail Must have all working knowledge of Extruder Operator Level 1 expectations Be able to mentor an Extruder Operator Level 1 in training Navigate through PSM BA Loss (auto derate back to prime) Lead a PSM start up from start to finish/prime unassisted Lead a PSM planned shutdown Troubleshoot fix/feeder issues, crinkles, and deep ripples Assist maintenance with changing slinky bars Review or develop JHAs Become HRCS Certified All other tasks as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, Skills and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to do intermediate mathematical calculations. Must have intermediate computer skills. Strong attributes for attention to detail Must complete successful probationary period prior to certifying as a Level 1
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Minium of 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with extrusion experience
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance Work up to 12 hours in hot/cold manufacturing environment Walk/stand on concrete floor continuously for up to 12 hours Climb on/off a forklift multiple time per shift Safeguard self with Personal protective Equipment (PPE) - steel-toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) hearing protection and FR long sleeved shirt (with shirt tail tucked in) and pants. Use cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties in accordance with all safety rules.
