Executive Head of Taxation
Role purpose

The Executive Head of Taxation is responsible for overseeing all tax-related activities within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing effective tax strategies, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations, and managing tax audits.

Key accountabilities

The Head of Tax will report to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for managing the Tax Division by overseeing the four pillars of Finance:

1. Digital Agenda

• Digitalize the process of archiving tax documents to prevent requests for information from tax and state authorities.
• Ensure the company's tax declaration processes are automated.

2. Profitable Growth

• Ensure all VDRC and Vodacash tax returns are submitted on time.
• Optimize the company's tax position.
• Manage pending tax issues with support from the legal department, External Affairs, Group Tax SA, and external advisors.
• Oversee internal and external tax audits to ensure no major issues arise, only minor housekeeping matters.

3. Shareholder Value

• Fully approve and implement a tax risk assessment.
• Implement strong internal and external control mechanisms (automation, reconciliation, tax opinions, reviews, and alignment with other telecom operators).
• Ensure tax compliance and minimize tax exposure.
• Participate in identifying, developing, and implementing tax planning strategies and tax-efficient structures.
• Analyze new product developments for tax implications.
• To report to Group Tax SA all significant tax issues for discussions and strategies.
• To ensure full compliance with the DRC Tax Law and statutory accounting and to perform properly the CDF yearly tax return with the support of external tax advisors and the Group Tax SA to be submitted to the Tax authorities (DGI).
• Proactively manage relations with the tax authorities in order to minimize the risk of challenges, litigation or damage to Vodacom Congo's credibility.
• Promote and cultivate positive relationships with tax authorities, governments and other stakeholders, acting in a professional, courteous and timely manner in all interactions and engagements.

• Ensure staff development through tax training in accounting and tax matters.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

• Education: Bachelor's in economics or equivalent and master diploma in Taxation
• More than Eight years to Tax experience
• English and French fluency
• Computer skills: Advanced level on Excel and good knowledge of Word.
• Very good leadership and relationship
• Be able to work under pressure with several priorities and during long working hours
• Be proactive
• Leadership effectiveness
• Speed of execution and people survey
•  Be able to organize working procedure and implement changes
