The International Wealth Management (“IWM”) segment within MSWM expanded the suite of world-class banking and lending solutions for International Client Advisors (“ICA”) and their clients. In addition to the Firm’s comprehensive financial services, which include brokerage, investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, Morgan Stanley developed and enhanced their lending, and cash management capabilities, by combining the lending financial services business with private banking products built specifically to service the needs of ICAs and their clients.
International Banking & Lending (“IBL”) within the Private Banking Group (“PBG”) is focused on origination and execution of international lending transactions across WM lending platforms (e.g. ECL, LAL, Margin, Letters of Credit, & Tailored Lending), providing ICAs and their clients with customized lending solutions to meet the liquidity needs of global families residing in approved jurisdictions. The ILA is co-located with ICAs and will coordinate activities across their market in partnership with International Private Bankers (“PB”) and Product Partners, as applicable.
**
*Position Summary:*
• Design lending solutions for IWM clients including credit structuring, analysis, and execution across WM lending platforms. This includes partnering with ICA, PBs, and Branch leadership in the execution of proposed lending transactions for international clients and prospects.
• Partner with Lending Product Groups, Legal, WM Risk and Credit Risk Management (“CRM”) to design optimal credit proposals in line with the Firm’s risk appetite and product guidelines while adhering to the international lending control framework. For Tailored Lending (“TL”) transactions, the ILA partners with TL Product Group to structure transactions.
• The ILA engages with clients, as required, and supports Branch leadership on recruitment initiatives.

*Pr**imary Responsibilities*
*Client and Field Engagement*
• Meet with clients and prospects in coordination with ICAs and PBs to support relationship development and discuss specific lending opportunities.
• Provide subject matter expertise to help identify and execute lending requests from new and existing clients.
• Support Branch management by providing insight on the competitive landscape in the lending business.

*Credit Structuring, Analysis, and Execution*
• Assess potential lending opportunities by performing the appropriate level of due diligence on financial and non-financial information, including: (i) evaluating the Borrower, pledgor, and/or guarantor; ii) evaluation of the underlying collateral;
iii) covenants and overall credit structure; iv) identifying key risks and mitigants and proposing potential structural protections and other conditions that may mitigate such risk; (v) determining if the opportunity aligns with one of the approved lending product programs.
• Create and review credit memos to ensure they clearly outline the transaction, purpose, strengths, risks and mitigants, financial/collateral analysis and other key terms and conditions required to support the ILA’s recommendation to move forward with the opportunity.
• Negotiate terms on proposed credit transactions with Credit Risk, in accordance with the Firm’s risk framework. Engagement w/ Product, CRM, Legal & other key stakeholders to procure transaction approval.
Pipeline, portfolio, and escalation management.
• Manage transaction pipeline, balancing client/ICA expectation and timely execution.
• Provide support to key clients in anticipation of any amendments or lending needs.
• Escalation management for new transactions.
*Experience:*
•Minimum 15 years of credit origination or credit underwriting experience in a Private Banking or Broker-Dealer platform required. Formal credit training preferred.
•Working knowledge of credit underwriting across different asset classes including portfolio of marketable securities (e.g., equities, investment and non-investment grade bonds, offshore mutual funds, etc.), commercial real estate, art, aircraft, hedge funds, and other asset types.
•Working knowledge of securities market exchanges across core international markets (LATAM, Asia and EMEA).
•Working knowledge of Letters of Credit operations, foreign exchange markets, and life insurance structures.
•Familiarity with offshore wealth-structuring jurisdictions and structures including Personal Holding Companies, Private Investment Companies, Trusts, etc.
•Basic understanding of the regulatory environment and enhanced due diligence requirements applicable to global clients.
•Working knowledge of Reg U, Reg T, Rule 11d-1, and Reg W.
•BA or BS required. Masters preferred.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $170,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
