Executive Director - Critical Technology Strategy Initiative

The College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon is a world-class engineering college recognized for excellence, innovation, and the societal relevance and impact of its pursuits. We are currently searching for an Executive Director: Critical Technology Strategy Initiative to join the College of Engineering.  This position will support the Director and faculty in building and running a Critical Technology Strategy Initiative at Carnegie Mellon. The goal of the institute is to develop the intellectual foundations, data, and analytic tools needed to support the government and industry in designing critical technology, supply chain, and infrastructure strategies.

Core responsibilities include:

Providing operational oversight of the institute, including business development, HR, events, finances, and government relations.

Assisting faculty with raising funds through federal and foundation grants and private sources.

Building, managing, and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.

Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

Exceptional communication skills

Strong analytical, problem solving, and reasoning skills

Strong organizational skills

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred

3-5 years of experience working across academia, industry, and government.

Experience engaging with university researchers.

Technology policy experience required.

Previous management experience, a passion for institution building, and excitement about supporting and promoting the unique type of long-term thinking and paradigm-shifting research possible in a university setting.
