Tierra Pacifica is a public charter school located in Santa Cruz, California serving students in grades TK-8. Our school was founded in 1998 by a dedicated group of parents, teachers and community members vested in creating a school that addressed different learning styles, social/emotional development, and collaborative learning.

Santa Cruz, CA Executive Director Tierra Pacifica Charter School seeks a talented educational leader to lead our small independent charter school serving students in grades TK-8 through an academic program grounded in progressive constructivist educational theory and anti-racist practices. Our ideal Executive Director will be experienced in academic leadership, operational and financial management, staff development and oversight, and charter school regulatory compliance. They will be invigorated by the opportunity to guide our students to be compassionate, resilient, life-long learners who are self-fulfilled and responsible community members. Our community is small and mighty, with committed teachers and staff and engaged parents and families. Our ideal Director will relish the opportunity to cultivate a safe and inclusive learning community. They will be motivated by the opportunity to work with Tierra’s Board of Directors to advance Tierra’s 2024-28 strategic goals, to identify the administrative structure and financial strategy necessary for Tierra to thrive, and to prepare Tierra for a successful Charter renewal in 2028. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Academic Leadership: Ensures high-quality instruction through curriculum oversight, teacher support, student achievement. Operational and Financial Management: Supervises effective use of resources through budgeting, fundraising, facilities, compliance and reporting. Staff Management and Oversight: Leads recruitment, hiring and firing, development, and evaluation of faculty and staff, and ensures effective team dynamics. Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Builds and maintains relationships and engagement with families, community stakeholders, and the board of directors. Charter Compliance and Advocacy: Liaison with the district, charter renewal, compliance with the charter and associated regulations.
