Position Summary:
Direct finance operations activities in accounting, accounts payable, payroll, and financial management for UNM Health Systems. Responsible for preparation of financial statements, managerial reports, and the preparation and review of departmental operating reports and budgets. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
* PLANNING - Participate in the institution's long and short-term financial planning process
* FINANCE CONTROL - Coordinate and control the institution's short-term cash and investment management activities in accordance with established policies and objectives
* FINANCE CONTROL - Direct the institution's banks in executing cash management decisions and work with the appropriate investment managers in coordinating fund transfers and monitoring investment performance
* FINANCE ADVICE - Recommend appropriate actions and strategies to respond to projected economic trends and/or regulatory changes and to facilitate the achievement of established financial objectives
* POLICIES - Direct and participate in the development and communication of departmental goals and policies
* FINANCE ADVICE - Provide advice and assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments and/or physician groups
* PROJECTS - Ensure that accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists as needed in facilitating the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations, and related financial projects
* REPORTS - Provide advice and guidance as necessary in preparing and analyzing financial reports and executing appropriate responsive actions
* COORDINATION - Serve as liaison between the department directors and other hospital administrators/managers in coordinating interdepartmental planning efforts and addressing major issues
* RISK - Advise CFO on risks, opportunities, changes in standards and other financial issues
* PLANNING - Direct and participate in the development and execution of appropriate strategies and action plans to ensure the effective integration of accounting and financial functions with other clinical operation departments
* FINANCE CONTROL - Direct and participate in the development of finance, accounting, accounts payable, cash management and other internal control policies and systems
* STAFFING - Define and communicate new and revised position responsibilities and/or reporting relationships and determines necessary staffing changes
* SUPERVISION - Direct and participate in the human resources management, coordination, selection, promotion, orientation and performance appraisal/ merit increase process
* SUPERVISION - Review and approve the performance appraisal and salary increase recommendations submitted by supervisors or their respective subordinates
* SUPERVISION - Participate in the resolution of employee complaints or problems
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures
