Summary About the Position: This position is located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Responsibilities Perform executive level support duties and analyses under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff/Deputy Director, Defense Health Network-E (DHN-E). Evaluate and analyze administrative programs to ensure the smooth daily operation of the DHN-E Front Office. Prioritize conflicting needs by handling matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures. Manage an extremely active calendar of appointments; composing and proofreading correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas. Compile data from files, correspondence, telephone, and personal contacts for inclusion in reports. Research, assemble, edit, and summarize a wide variety of subject material pertinent to the organization. Provide final quality assurance review of work products such as draft directives, decision papers, issue papers, and other similar correspondence prepared for the Director, DHN-E signature. Establish internal procedures to secure and adequately control deadlines, progress reports, and directives. Read incoming mail and utilize knowledge of the DHN-E Front Office leadership's priority activities to route incoming material or refer mail to other personnel where appropriate. Receive high ranking visitors from both the military and civilian communities, to include members of Congress, press and foreign officials. Manage and oversee all contract employees assigned to the DHN-E Front Office, serving as the Contract Representative for the Department of Defense. Provide a bridge for smooth communication between the DHN-E and internal departments. One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing schedules for higher-level/executive leadership; 2) preparing reports and executive correspondence; 3) and analyzing and evaluating higher-level administrative program issues/trends to resolve or recommend solutions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Data Management Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
