Event Productions Student Assistant Apply now (https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/674/gateway/default.aspx?c=apply&lJobID=534882&lJobSourceTypeID=796&sLanguage=en-us) Job no: 534882 Work type: Student Ast Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Recreation/Event Services, Student Services Department: 05310000 - RU-EVENT PRODUCTIONS Classification Title: STU AST-NON-CLERICAL & ADMIN Job Description: Student employees within the Event Productions Department must: + Be available to work during the 2025 summer break + Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester + Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff + Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism + Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment + Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable + Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations + Possess the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and academic breaks, as well as commit to working 10 or more hours per week + Complete all training requirements within the first five (5) weeks of employment + Be able to physically lift up to 45 pounds; as needed + Act as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources Position Specific Responsibilities: + Works independently or as a team to physically set up tables, chairs, stages, audio-visual equipment, and other furniture consistent with room diagrams and provide technical support for events occurring at the Reitz Union + Responsible for interpreting all Event Management System (EMS) documents to determine event requirements and setups + Provides customer service support by responding via a two-way radio to calls for assistance + Assists with transportation, distribution, and redistribution of office furniture, event equipment, and general equipment returning all items to the proper storage area when not in use + Conducts equipment inventories, separates all damaged equipment, and completes minor repairs + Maintains furniture and/or audio-visual equipment in meeting rooms, common areas, and storage rooms + Operates sound reinforcement and lighting systems to support a variety of live events + Other duties as assigned Advertised Salary: $13.00/HR Minimum Requirements: This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week. Summer 2025 availability is required. Preferred Qualifications: Although no experience is necessary to apply and all training will be provided, we would prefer for all student employees to: + Demonstrate previous experience with customer service. + Candidates will be able and available to work the entire academic year. + Possess the ability to work shifts during the early mornings, evenings and weekends. + Proficient with verbal and written communication. + CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain.
