Event Manager

ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Event Manager at ASM GLOBAL Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. This position reports directly to the Director, Events. 

JOB SUMMARY

The primary duty of the Event Manager is to provide coordination and support to the clients of Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.  The Event Manager will manage, coordinate, and plan all aspects of Oakland Roots Sports Club Events – primarily game operations and special events – and other events on property as assigned. The individual in this position is expected to possess a positive and optimistic attitude to lead and inspire other departments and to always conduct themselves professionally.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE $75,000.00 to $95,000.00

Essential Functions:

Serve as the primary contact for events at Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, acting as the liaison for internal departments teams to provide and determine client needs to make events successful.Manage the proper execution of all elements for events including technical needs, parking, emergency services, food & beverage, guest services, engineering, facilities presentation, broadcasting, media, security, and sales & marketing.Develop, implement, and execute programs that enhance guest experience for events.Gather and create event estimates/costs for clients.Ensure proper execution of staffing deployments, equipment rentals and house logistics to meet client expectations.Serve as liaison between Oakland Roots Sports Club and ASM Global-Oakland.Organize, facilitate, and conduct production meetings with client, vendors, internal departments, other partners to communicate goals and objectives of assigned events.Oversee special events which can be assigned at a moment’s notice from different departments within ASM.Ensure contractual obligations and policies are maintained.Oversees SEIU, IATSE 107, 784, and 119 union crew members, and contractors to ensure satisfactory work and compliance with ASM Global standards as directed while ensuring adherence to contractual agreements, CBAs, OSHA and any other applicable safety codes. Work with finance department on timely and accurate event settlements.Serve as primary liaison with concessionaire for Oakland Alameda County Coliseum.

Required Qualifications

A minimum education level of:   BA/BS Degree (4-year)          A minimum of 3 years of related work experience in sporting and special eventsKnowledge of sports and entertainment event management and/or event operationsPrevious supervisory experience of event staffAbility to work both independently and as part of a team environmentMust be able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and handle high stress situationsAbility to be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as neededProficient in MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); ability to learn AutoCAD and other required business systemsExceptional guest and client service capabilities.Demonstrate excellent communication skills, commitment and dedication to job duties, promptness and timeliness

Work inside and outside of buildings.

Experience exposure to adverse conditions such as weather and loud noises.

May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present which will require ability to use respirator and/or other PPE.
