Evening Shift - RESIDENTIAL MENTAL HEALTH WORKER

 

Participtes as necessary in admission of new residents.

Maintans an awareness of each resident's emotional, physical and spiritual needs and referes him/her to other team members (when necessary) to meet these needs.

Be alert that each adolescent is prepared for and attends his programmed appointments:  psychological, psychiatric, educational and medical.

Provides immediate intervention utilizing therapeutic crisis intervetion techniques to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.

As a member of the treatment team contributes to the formulation of a treatment plan for each individual in the unit through submission of written reports and participation in discussion.  Carries out treatment plan where appropriate.

Organizes recreaional activities that would make leisure time a positive, rewarding experience.

Sees to the daily care and cleanliness of the living facilities.

Sees to overall maagement of clothing, household supplies and equipment.

Provide transportation - if approved as Agency Authorized Driver, will transport Residents as requested.

Supervises the resident's personal hygiene routines.

Remain alert to be available for "active" listening to any adolescent in unit in line with that adolescent's treatment goals.

Completes daily log, and other reports as requested and submits same to appropriate staff.

Follows proper procedures for reporting damage or needs in the physical plant, supplies that are needed etc.

Advances professional development by participation in the facility's in-services training program:  bi-monthly supervision and by attending outside conferences, seminars and workshops as requested by his/her supervisor.

Promotes and fosters in residents positive values such as: integrity, dignity, self-control, poise, honesty, self-respect; a sense of personal resosiblity; motivation for study, careers and goals in life; appropriate spiritual and religious attitudes in accordance with each resident's religion; respect for personal property, equipment etc., as well as the appropriate use of money.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - External

H.S. Dipolma or GED, two years of college preferred

Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver's license and fingerprinting as required by the program.

Compliance with PPD clearances

Current certification in CPR and demonstrated competency on an annual basis.

This position requires successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, which includes a written test and demonstration of the competency to perform physical restraints, as specified by the program and regulatory body. Additionally, staff must successfully complete all required TCI refreshers in order to maintain continued employment
