One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and well-being. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking for one Machinery Safety Engineer to join the High-Risk Operations team. The individuals will play a critical role to ensure high standards of safety are built into systems and processes across new and legacy Fulfilment Centres, Sort Centres and Delivery Stations across Europe.
The successful candidate will conduct equipment inspections (FAT/SAT) against a pre-determined set of criteria to identify if improvements are required to increase the level of safety. The role will require technical knowledge of EU machinery safety standards, in PUWER/UWED applications and regulations to meet all European country requirements. Emphasis will be on sound safety engineering principles, basic machinery knowledge and the ability to engage with cross functional teams, transforming this knowledge into sound, compliant processes for the EU network.
Location: Luxembourg. The role will require frequent travel up to approx. 40% - 50% of the time.
Key job responsibilities
You will be supporting a wide range of projects including liaison with other critical support functions such as Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, and New Build/Real Estate teams in order to effectively deliver the required right first-time machinery and systems safety standards. This is an important safety role and will report directly to the Safety Engineering Manager (Europe & RoW).
The extent of your duties will include:
• Support Amazon facilities by performing suitable and sufficient risk assessments of all relevant machinery and equipment, for legacy and new launch sites.
• Support the development of solutions that meet Amazon high standards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction, efficiency, scalable, simplicity, and operational excellence.
• Engage and manage the involvement of the inspection team with the projects, reacting to changes to facilitate the attendance for the inspection.
• Complete the lifecycle of inspection by effectively reviewing corrective measures and implementing the control in the inspection tool.
• Provide functional working links with other critical functional teams including; Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, New Build Safety and Real Estate teams.
• Manage the intake of request for support and prioritize the process to suit operational requirements where needed. Support the delivery of central Health and Safety pro-active objectives.
• Provide input to change projects, build outs and development projects and act as a technical machinery advisor for the EU WHS team.
• Keep tracking data up-to-date for the inspection program. Plan and arrange own travel applying frugality and efficiency of time on sites.
