About You and This Role:

As the business EH&S technician you will be supporting construction projects, turnarounds, and supplemental site operations support. This position is primarily located in Freeport, TX. This position can be located in any major Dow Gulf Coast site.

Responsibilities:

Construction

Ensures the construction work is executed according to the Construction Execution plans as well as aligns with applicable Legal and site requirements.Participates in Pre-job Safety meetings.Ability to transmit knowledge (teaching, coaching, communicating, documenting).Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.Understands and supports Construction work processes and tools. Provides an owner field presence for the owner contingent safety technicians acting as a safety subject matter expert.Provides an owner field presence for the contractor safety technicians acting as a safety subject matter expert.Assists EPC(m) and contractor companies on following the project Incident and Injury management protocols.Ensures that toolbox meetings are defined by all the contractor companies and are working properly.  Attends toolbox meetings each day.Ensures all legal requirements are followed in the field.Ensures the project has a system to define at-risk personnel and is practicing it.Ensures contractor personnel are trained according to requirements.Audits permitting process and closes any gaps identified in the field.Audits the programs for housekeeping, audits, inspections, PPE, environmental and Industrial Hygiene and closes any gaps with the involved contractor company.Leads incident reduction efforts.Participates in the investigation of EH&S incidents using the Root Cause Investigation (RCI) process.Ensures incident and audit corrective actions are completed by the EPC or contractor company.Validates that incident action items have been completed by the contractor company and actions are being practiced in the field.Participates and provides data to EH&S audits as defined by the audit process.Coordinates and checks that work procedures are being implemented correctly.Takes the steps necessary to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed onto the construction site.Ensures the EH&S tools and work process defined in the EH&S Management Plan are properly utilized in the field (i.e. BBP, PTA, RCI, Audits, LER, etc.).Completes required field observations and inspections.

Turnarounds / Pit Stops

Perform EH&S job reviews as part of front end loadingProvide field EH&S support for turnaround pre-work, execution, and post work.Leverage business EH&S expertise to sites

Supplemental Site Support

Provide fresh eyes visits to operating facilitiesProvide short term support to meet critical needs

Required Experience

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.A minimum of 5 years of EH&S experience.A minimum or 10 years of relevant experience (e.g. project / construction, turnarounds, maintenance, operations, etc.).Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights. This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.  Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.Knowledge of Project Methodology and Construction Management work processes is preferred.Professional safety certifications is preferred.Knowledge of Spanish language is preferred.

Must be willing to travel up to 50% of time to locations based on construction, turnaround, and pit stop activity.
