Job Summary The Estimator is responsible for assisting with the administrative function of current projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and subcontractor take-offs for bid projects. This position supports Project teams and works with vendors as well as personnel from other departments. Responsibilities Prepare accurate take-of materials, subcontracting, and production items for projects. Acquire plans for projects. Prepare and deliver bids. Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for projects. Furnish bid information for tracking purposes, follow bid process, and work on improving bid process. Prepare job files for operations. Keep job log up-to-date. Assist Project Manager (PM) with general requests including requesting bid proposals from various subcontractors and suppliers. Assist project management team with logistics planning and communications to subcontractors, suppliers, project personnel, and the public, as needed. Monitor Purchase Orders (PO) and Subcontracts for compliance. Compile monthly financial reports, including accruals, evaluating project risk events, and projected cash flow. Support corporate and company platforms with project site audits, data tracking, and comparative analysis. Coordinate with PM, Project Controls, to properly allocate project budget to phase codes and cost types. Coordinate with PM and Supply Chain to secure Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for all materials and services needed to build project. Coordinate with PM to properly code actual costs to proper phase codes. Ensure the most current drawings for all phases of the Contract have been issued to the appropriate parties and are being utilized to build the Work. Populate and maintain receiving logs for critical materials, calculating earned value, as well as data entry for the project’s Daily Status Tracker, weekly progress entry, and maintenance of equipment and staffing matrix. Collect subcontractors’ schedules and coordinate with Scheduling to properly update and distribute detailed, critical path, and short-term look-ahead schedules. Support project management team in the effort towards Submittals and Requests for Information (RFI), maintaining logs for both. Review and process vendor/subcontractor invoicing and lien waivers while updating appropriate tracking tools. Create project pay applications in accordance with the Contract and intercompany accounting rules. Qualifications Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering/Construction Management or equal preferred but not required. 2 years underground utilities experience. Familiar with Bid2Win Software. Knowledge of methods and specifications in the utility construction field. CPM Scheduling. Estimating contract changes. Tracking activities using Viewpoint. Job cost accounting. Tech savvy with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent organizational and communication skills, business management skills, and have general knowledge of OSHA regulations. Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
