Salary: Starting salary £28,438, rising to £30,253 (upon successful completion of your 9-month probationary period) Location(s): Office-based at one of the following with regular travel to the other 4: Brighton, Chichester, Guildford, Basingstoke, and Reading. Your Role As ESOL Tutor, you will plan, deliver and assess high-quality ESOL teaching to adult learners or young people whose first language is not English, helping them to develop language skills for everyday life, employment, and further education. Your Responsibilities + Deliver engaging and inclusive ESOL lessons at Pre-Entry to Level 2 in line with national curriculum standards. + Develop and adapt schemes of work and lesson plans based on learner needs, including differentiated learning activities. + Carry out initial assessments and diagnostics to determine learners’ language levels and support needs. + Create and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) with clear, achievable targets. + Use a range of teaching strategies and resources, including digital tools, to meet diverse learner needs. + Prepare learners for internal and accredited ESOL exams (e.g., ESB, City & Guilds, Trinity College). + Track learner attendance, progress, and achievements using appropriate systems and reporting tools. + Provide regular feedback to learners to promote improvement and self-reflection. + Supporting Employment Facilitation team with content delivery. Your Skills & Experience Essential + Passion for our values: Kindness, Respect, Integrity, Innovation + Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, CELTA, TESOL, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training). + ESOL subject specialism or equivalent experience. + Experience teaching ESOL in a post-16, adult education, or community setting. + Strong understanding of ESOL assessment frameworks and exam board requirements. + Excellent interpersonal and classroom management skills. + Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of a diverse learner population. Desirable + Experience teaching mixed-ability or multilingual groups. + Experience integrating ESOL with employability or vocational subjects. + Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent Duty, and working with vulnerable learners. + Familiarity with online/blended learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Moodle, Teams).
