Job Description:
Cambria is looking for a flexible individual seeking a rewarding opportunity as a full or part-time occupational English teacher. This position will teach English to our employees for whom English is not their first language. This teacher will instruct students on subjects such as safety, quality, equipment, and occupational communication tailored to Cambria’s workplace. Instruction will be in-person and virtual. M-Th evening availability required.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Teach English
Increase the level of English skill to support job performance and increase opportunities for our employees whose first language is not English by facilitating ESL classes within the context of the work being performed at the students’ work sites
Use provided curriculum to guide English instruction
Supplement prepared curriculum with additional resources to accommodate individual student needs
Increase students’ levels of workplace cultural understanding
Administer/Proctor standardized reading and listening tests to help gauge student progress and determine placement
Use formative assessments in class to inform instruction
Utilize technology as a learning aid and development tool
Encourage learning, growth, and development amongst all participants
Communication
Communicate daily with managers and supervisors via email and text regarding student class times, absences and make up classes.
Record all attendances manually and electronically for each class
Participate in weekly department meetings
Professional Development
Obtain CASAS proctor certification within 30 days of hire
Engage in other professional development opportunities in order to enhance practice and improve student learning
Maintain all Cambria-learning requirements
Classroom Management
Maintain accurate and timely classroom records including attendance and assessment scores
Maintain student materials within the classroom
Update and print attendance sign in pages weekly
Maintain classroom manipulatives and other materials
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2-5 years in an educational setting
Systems: Proficient in Google Suite and Zoom
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Experience learning a language
Willingness to work collaboratively on a small team
Strong decision making skills
Experience applying adult learning theory
High level attention to detail
TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certification preferred
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience with CASAS preferred
Travel Requirements: limited to subbing at local sites in Le Sueur and Belle Plaine
Cambria’s starting hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00. Hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hires for the position. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including work location, job-related experience, and relevant education and/or training.
