Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is part of the Soldier/Chem Bio, Readiness & Sustainment Directorate. Responsibilities Provide technical assistance to units in CONUS, overseas commands, and international logistics countries. Serve as a maintenance support manager and technical advisor of the Common Remote Operating Weapon System (CROWS) to subordinate team members. Develop Plans of Instruction (POIs) and conducts training classes in proper maintenance operations and procedures for assigned materiel. Analyze logistics problem areas to determine root cause(s), recommend corrective action to field command elements. Impart specialized information concerning support characteristics of complex systems/subsystems for use by engineers. Maintain continuous liaison with production personnel to insure optimum maintainability. Determine and allocate maintenance operations for assigned weapons systems to proper echelon(s) of maintenance, and the subsequent allocation of repair parts and common and special tools to support fielded item. Furnish technical advice and instruction relative to maintenance and storage operations. Interpret overhaul standards and other pertinent procedures and regulations and suggest improvements to facilitate operations being conducted. Prepare new programs of instruction and develop new approaches for more effective presentation of course content in order to provide information, instructions and procedures that will enable personnel to fulfill assigned missions. Plan, schedule, and implement all elements of maintenance management on assigned systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes 1. Determining operations for assigned material to the proper echelons of maintenance; 2. Maintaining master records or bills of materiel; 3. Reviewing technical specifications or requirements; 4. Interpreting engineering or technical changes to parts or equipment; 5. Recommending changes in publications, policies, or procedures based on practical knowledge or observation of equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Applicants must meet basic eligibility requirements such as minimum qualifications, and other regulatory requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Position is designated non-critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 90 days or longer to process. The selectee may be allowed to start work prior to adjudication if management approved. Obtaining and maintaining a secret security clearance is a condition of employment. This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet the position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics within 48 months of entrance on duty.
