Under close supervision, The Equipment Servicer performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on motor vehicles and related power equipment to include maintenance on heavy duty equipment. Performs related duties as required. Work hours may be day or evening shift. The men and women in Metro’s General Services Department are there to make sure the rest of government works. From ensuring that our city’s vehicles run safely and smoothly, to keeping city buildings up to par to providing printing services and more. General Services is the support that allows other Metro departments to focus and achieve their missions. *If you have applied for this position within the last 6 months there is no need to reapply your application is still under consideration* Typical Duties + Perform routine maintenance and repairs on motor vehicles and equipment. + Inspect and add fluids to vehicles and equipment and lubricate all vehicles and equipment. + Change oil and filters and repair tires. + Clean and wash vehicles, equipment, motors and chassis. + Refer any unusual or non-routine maintenance work to appropriate personnel. + Document maintenance and repair in the fleet management system. + Keep work area clean and orderly. + Park and deliver motor vehicles and equipment. + Clean shop and work areas and care for tools. + Maintain repair and maintenance logs and records. + May be required to communicate directly with fleet coordinators. Minimum Qualifications Eighth Grade education and verifiable work experience performing routine maintenance on motor vehicles and/or equipment LICENSES REQUIRED Valid Driver License Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
