Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator to perform maintenance support for local roadways and highways. Join our team and grow with us as we provide best in-class services that help clients solve their most complex challenges!

What You’ll Do:

Operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, excavators, mower max/boom mowers, and edging machinesWith the use of heavy equipment, push, pull, pile, or load materials, such as sand, gravel, earth, coal, moving and covering refuse, and clearing brush, rocks, tree stumps, and other materialPerform maintenance and situational remediation of tree trimming and brush clearing, cutting ditches, patching culverts, realigning roadways to original grade, and work on non-paved shoulders on the roadsideEnsures the performance of operator maintenance on vehicles, such as cleaning vehicles, checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, lubricating equipment, and making necessary adjustmentsEnsures proper use of hand tools for changing attachments, tightening loose nuts and bolts, etc.Ensures safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe clean work environmentEnsures usage and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothingMay perform landscape maintenance duties such as mowing, herbicide and fertilizer application, weed control, spring clean-up, fall clean-upMay clean and grade ditches, stormwater drainage structures, highway road shoulders, slopesMay perform fence repair, sign repair and replacement, repairs and replacement of guardrail components and attenuatorsMay perform concrete structural repair to sidewalks and bridges or overpassesMay fill and patch asphalt pavement potholes and distresses/depressionsMay travel to our Holly Hill, FL office to support Flagler County roadway operations on an as-needed basis using the company vehicle providedPerforms Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)Temporary traffic control to support first responders and accident victims with lane closures/flaggingLitter, brush, and debris removal or haul awayConducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and work site inspectionsDrives company trucks, towing trailers and rolling arrow boards as necessaryLogs maintenance work-order information and checklists manually and electronicallyLoads and unloads equipment, supplies, tools, and materialUses all equipment safelyPerforms other duties as required 

What You’ll Bring:

18+ years of ageHigh School Diploma or equivalent work experience 1+ year of experience in heavy equipment operationMust possess and maintain an active and valid Florida driver's license without restrictionsMust be able to effectively communicate with managers and coworkers in EnglishAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularlyAbility to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of timeWillingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtimeMust adhere to the posted and as-needed on-call schedule to perform Temporary traffic control/Emergency Response via Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) to support first responders and accident victims with lane closures/flaggingAbility to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditionsAbility to work along local roadways, interstates, and or/highways with commuter traffic passing by at varying rates of speedObtain MOT certificate (coursework and certification paid for by the company)Must be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start dateSuccessful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), and drug screen 

Preferred Qualifications

1+ year of experience working in roadway operations, construction, utilities, or landscapingCDL A or BMOT CertifiedAbility to drive manual transmissionPossess a working knowledge of standard horticultural practices, including but not limited to mowing, weed eating, corrective pruning, and fertilizationMechanic experience

Location Requirements

The position will primarily work onsite in Palatka, FL.

Compensation 

Expected Salary: $18 - $24 per hour
