The equine unit is an integral part of the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital which provides 24 hour emergency/intensive care to critically ill or injured equines at a tertiary level teaching hospital; simultaneously provide clinical instruction to professional veterinary medical students, interns, residents, veterinary technicians, graduate veterinarians and others with an emphasis on practical applications of internal medicine, anesthesia, emergency procedures, emergency surgery, endoscopy, intensive care management and neonatal critical care management. Equine Podiatry provides primary and emergency medical podiatry care to clients of the Rocky Mountain region. This position will service existing clients and develop new clientele in the region. In addition to offering a clinical service, the ideal candidate must be able to provide a hands-on learning experience for veterinary students/house officers and managing the business of the equine podiatry service. The position relies on a teamwork-focused structure, while providing excellent equine care and demonstration of strong communication with clients. The successful applicant would be the primary veterinarian on the service and have support of a technician. The service is equipped with equine podiatry diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities.
