Description of Work Unit
The mission of the Lory Student Center ( LSC ) is to serve as a student-centered organization at the heart of campus, providing programs and services that create an inclusive community and
inspire active, engaged learning. As an auxiliary enterprise within the Division of Student Affairs, the LSC is a comprehensive student union recognized nationally as one of the leading university centers. The LSC annual operating budget is approximately $40 million. Nearly 125 full-time career staff and 650 student and hourly staff serve approximately 24,000 people entering the facility on a daily basis and hosts approximately 13,000 annual events and meetings.
Areas within the Lory Student Center include the CSU Bookstore; Campus Activities; Lory Dining Services; Marketing; Operations; Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement (SLiCE); and an extensive array of business and service partners.

Position Summary
A signing bonus of up to $2000 may be considered for the successful candidate.
Custodians have an abiding commitment to serving the diverse needs of the University community, the active promotion of an equitable and inclusive environment, and the development and enhancement of collaborative relationships. Custodians provide a clean and safe learning and working environment for students, staff, and university guests by responding to the daily cleaning needs of the Lory Student Center facilities with a focus on sustainability and customer services. Providing leadership over others. Although positions follow established work processes, they have the authority to determine the procedures required to accomplish the work. Custodians use judgment on an ongoing basis to select the most appropriate technical guidelines and adapt them to develop work procedures that accomplish tasks.
This position will work the overnight shift Thursday through Sunday from 1:30 pm to 12:00 am.
Required Job Qualifications
+ One full-time year (12 months) of custodial or laundry experience appropriate to the job assignment.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the position start date.

Duty/Responsibility
+ Keeps facilities including learning and dining environments clean and safe using “green” practices: environmentally safe chemicals, water conservation, recycling, conserving energy by turning off lights, etc.
+ Cleaning and/or disinfecting is performed for showers, toilets, walls, sinks, drains, vents, trash receptacles, ceilings, floors, mirrors, vanities, windows, appliances, furnishings, and all handhold surfaces.
+ Provides clean-up for blood-borne pathogen situations not handled by EHS .
+ Clean hall and room carpets in residential living, learning, and dining environments by vacuuming and shampooing. Clean hard surface floors by sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, and refinishing. Remove gum.
+ Cleans around outside of the building by picking up trash, sweeping, removing gum, washing sidewalks, and snow/ice removal. May provide building opening and closing procedures.
+ Dispose of trash/recyclables from internal/external receptacles.
+ Use Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures for the above tasks.
+ Work leader over hourly and Custodian I employees to train, mentor and work with new and existing employees on the above tasks.

+ Assists the supervisor in planning and carrying out “deep cleaning” and floor finishing service often requiring after-hours work or on scheduled days off to finish projects in a timely manner. •Assist custodial staff with daily delivery of custodial services and provide event support and snow removal services both within the hours of the normal work schedule as well as after hours and on weekends when necessary. Work closely with shift leaders to hire student employees. •Cleans around outside of the building by picking up trash, wiping tables, sweeping, removing gum, and washing sidewalks.
+ Have appropriate social interactions with building occupants and guests and be aware of their personal space, using appropriate communication and providing programmatic support.
+ Increase staff morale; create and maintain an inclusive and welcoming work environment where all employees’ multiple and intersecting identities are valued and recognized; build employee relationships.
+ Clean-up after construction projects
+ Use Personal Protective Equipment and safety procedures for the above tasks.
+ Work leader over hourly and Custodian I employees to train, mentor and work with new and existing employees on the above tasks.
