Job Description
We are currently seeking several Junior Level Environmental Scientists to join our team in Titusville. This role will support a variety of Emergency Response, Remediation, and environmental due diligence projects, with a significant portion of the work (75%) conducted in the field and the remainder (25%) in the office.
ResponsibilitiesUse hand augers and other various tools/instruments to obtain soil, sediment, water, waste, and wastewater samples.Perform tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions and work around hazardous materials.Conduct environmental site investigation and remediation work, including soil and groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion investigation, remedial investigation, design, implementation and monitoring, and pilot tests.Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical remediation systems and monitoring systems.Conduct environmental sampling and document field activities in field notebooks and field graphics, including groundwater sampling logs, well completion logs, and soil logs.Oversee the work of subcontractors, including construction and water well contractors, laboratories, and others.Prepare reports based on field notes, interpretation of laboratory reports, and other data, including source removal, site assessment, and others.Essential SkillsExperience with or desire to start a career in environmental site assessments, remediation, and environmental emergency response.Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Understanding of environmental regulations related to contaminated sites and drinking water.Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.Proficient in the use of a computer to access, input, and review test data in spreadsheets, tables, graphs, and various software programs.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a physical science.Valid Florida Driver’s License.Must be available for some overnight travel in Florida.OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with updates preferred.Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and a desire to learn.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, including clients, agency personnel, and the public.Work Environment
The role requires starting out by coming to the office each day before heading out to the field. Participation in a pre-con meeting is necessary before proceeding to the project site. With experience and training, there is flexibility to drive straight to project sites if it makes more sense logistically. Most field work involves daily travel, but there will be projects periodically throughout Florida that require overnight stays. The job involves working outdoors in a Florida environment and around hazardous materials. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
