Job Summary Langan is seeking an Environmental Practice Leader specializing in waterfront projects to join its collaborative team in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). This individual will play a key role in overseeing and driving the growth of Langan's Environmental Practice in the PNW by identifying, pursuing and managing environmental and engineering opportunities and projects opportunities related to shoreline remediation and surface water sediment cleanups. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage Langan's robust technical expertise and leadership presence in the PNW market, manage diverse waterfront projects, and contribute to the further expansion of an innovative and industry-renowned practice. Job Responsibilities + Lead the identification and pursuit of new clients, including ports and other shoreline-related entities. Develop additional work within existing projects and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients. + Leverage existing client relationships to bring new clients and projects to Langan. + Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments, including coaching, training, and motivating staff assigned to environmental projects. Participate in interviewing and hiring staff. + Manage and deliver on multiple waterfront projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. + Perform complex analyses for specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects, with a focus on shoreline remediation and surface water sediment cleanups. + Interface effectively and professionally with clients, regulators, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors, and others. + Supervise project managers leading field activities associated with shoreline and sediment assessments and remediation. + Demonstrate subject matter expertise in shoreline regulatory knowledge, ensuring projects comply with relevant regulations. + Effectively organize, write, and edit reports, draft proposals, and other documents related to environmental projects. + Coordinate other work groups within the same or different office locations and/or within the same or different disciplines on an as-needed basis. + Perform other duties as requested. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Science; Master’s degree preferred. + Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) required. + 15+ years of practical experience with environmental investigations and remediation projects, with a strong focus on waterfront projects and shoreline clients, such as ports. + In-depth knowledge and understanding of local, state (Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Washington Department of Ecology) and federal (USEPA, CERCLA, and RCRA) regulations, with specific expertise in shoreline regulatory knowledge. + Strong people, project, and client management skills. + Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software. + Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills. + Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities. + Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment. + Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing. The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
